What is Goliath Frog Crafts?

Goliath Frog Crafts is a blog of sorts that was born out of my love and passion for crafts. It is a place for me to share my projects, crafting tips, products that I love, and anything else that catches my eye. While I occasionally post items for sale, I am not a traditional retailer and do not regularly sell handmade goods.

About Me

Hi there and welcome! My name is Abbi (she/her) and I’m the maker behind Goliath Frog Crafts. I am based out of a small lake community nestled in the mountains of Northern New Jersey. I live here with my husband and our 5 furbabies: 2 cats named Gizmo and K'en, a Golden Retriever named Bosco, and two Saint Bernards named Eggsy and Samson. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art and Anthropology with a minor in Art History and a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration.

I learned to knit when I was 11 years old, but switched to crochet shortly after. I picked up knitting again around 2009 at the age of 19, but really only started to become a capital K-knitter in 2016. I expanded Goliath Frog Crafts into a business in 2018 as a small-batch yarn dyeing studio, which I have since closed down in favor of devoting my time to knitting, spinning, and weaving.

I am passionate about fiber arts and I am always looking to explore new areas of the craft, experiment with different products, and meet other makers. I want this to be a place where I can share not only my current projects, but also introduce you to new fiber folks, review products that I use and love, and share tutorials on various crafting techniques. I am so excited to be able to share my love of the craft with you!

When I’m not crafting I’m….

I’m an avid reader of romance novels and usually read between 350-450 books a year (add me on Goodreads @goliathfrog)! I do the NYT crossword puzzle every day. While I don’t watch much TV, my favorite shows are Stargate SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica. I also LOVE Sailor Moon and am a total sucker for anything even slightly related to it. I’ve been alcohol-free since October 26, 2019 and drink a lot of seltzer, tea, and coffee. I still listen to the same Emo, Indie, and Folk music that I’ve been listening to since 2005.

Inclusivity Statement

I will always aim to make my space safe and inclusive. That means that this space is anti-racist, pro-2SLGBTQIA+, body positive, size inclusive, non-ableist, non-judgmental, non-elitist, and against white supremacy in all forms. I believe in supporting and elevating the voices of marginalized people and striving for a world where everyone can feel heard and accepted as they are. I actively strive to not collaborate, support, or partner with brands, makers, or products that I feel do not align with these values or ethics.

While I do vet brands and designers before sharing them in my space, it is always possible for me to overlook something problematic- if you happen to notice this please feel free to alert me so I can correct the error. I will not be offended or defensive, I promise!
